Two men have been charged in connection with a suitcase robbery where a substance thought to be capsaicin spray led to people being hurt at the UK's busiest airport.
Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, are accused of two counts of robbery and two counts of using a harmful chemical, as confirmed by court officials.
This legal action stems from an probe of an assault at the parking structure at Heathrow's Terminal Three on Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women were robbed of their luggage taken after exiting a parking garage elevator, police said.
A toddler was one of the people hurt in the event. Five people required hospital care and were subsequently released.
This event – described by police as was not part of a series and not being treated as terrorism – resulted in disruptions to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a brief period.
