Miami put up 86 first-half scores versus the Memphis Grizzlies
The Heat claimed a crushing 146 to 114 win over the Grizzlies in their first NBA match since player Terry Rozier was detained for suspected unlawful gambling.
Portland Trail Blazers coach Billups was also detained in connection with a broad federal investigation into sports betting. Both men contest the claims.
But, the Miami team were not distracted as they put up eighty-six opening half scores to be ahead of Memphis by 39 after two quarters, the largest halftime lead in the team's 37 year history.
Adebayo led the way with 24 scores and later said Rozier had the team's full backing.
"We support him. Full support," Bam stated. "We are with him all the way. That's our brother ultimately."
Miami head coach Spoelstra commented: "Terry is somebody who is very dear to everyone. He has made a beneficial influence on our team.
"We send our thoughts and support for him as he faces this."
Portland also won their initial match after the arrests, with Brazilian Splitter stepping in as interim coach in Billups' absence and leading the team to a convincing 139 to 119 win against the Golden State Warriors.
"We all had great experiences with Chauncey and his coaching style," Tiago remarked. "Our thoughts are with him and his loved ones but our focus is on the game."
Addressing the arrests for the first time, league head Silver stated he was "very upset" by the incidents of the recent days.
"There's nothing more important to the league and its fans than the integrity of the game," he informed Amazon Prime. "And so I had a pit in my stomach. It was very upsetting."
Silver also mentioned an league probe into the player's actions in spring 2023, when there was "aberrational betting" in a match he participated for the Hornets versus the Pelicans, discovered no wrongdoing.
"We were informed by the regulators and the betting companies," he added.
"We then looked into that situation and were open about it. Although there was that aberrational betting, we, honestly, found no evidence.
"The federal government has subpoena power... [it] can threaten to put people in jail, can take various actions that the league office can't do.
"Therefore, we've been cooperating from that point. And, of course, what they announced recently was an indictment.
"Moreover two and a half years after, he still hasn't been convicted of any offense, in fairness to Terry.
"Obviously, it appears unfavorable, but he's been put on administrative leave, and so it is a balance in this case between upholding rights and conducting an inquiry."
Elsewhere, Los Angeles Lakers player Doncic recorded over forty scores for the consecutive match in a row to start the season.
Following racking up forty-three scores in a first loss to the Warriors, the European star achieved forty-nine points - along with 11 boards and eight passes - as the Los Angeles defeated the Timberwolves 128 to 110.
From Greece player Antetokounmpo also had a strong performance with thirty-one scores, twenty boards and seven assists in the Milwaukee Bucks' 122 to 116 victory at the Raptors.
Rockets were defeated 115-111 by the Detroit Pistons even with thirty-seven points from Durant, while Wembanyama had twenty-nine scores, 11 boards and 9 blocks in the San Antonio Spurs' overtime win against the Pelicans.
