Dominant Aryna Sabalenka Wins Consecutive WTA Player of the Year Honors.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been chosen the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second straight season.

The 27-year-old captured four tournament victories – the highest tally on the circuit – which included retaining the US Open this past September against Amanda Anisimova to earn her fourth Grand Slam singles title.

A Season of Dominance

Throughout the year, Sabalenka reached a tour-best nine championship matches, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final in January and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also claimed victory at the Brisbane International early in the season, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the whole season as the world number one, ending 2025 on top of the rankings for a second successive year.

This past summer, she achieved the status of being the first athlete to exceed 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Historic Achievements

Sabalenka ended the season with a 63-12 match record, and collected a record eleven million pounds in prize money.

She received nearly 80% of the votes submitted by global tennis journalists.

On 28 December, she is set to play 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match in a bid to "help bring women's tennis to a higher level".

Additional WTA Award Recipients

• Returning Star of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, twenty-eight, was voted after taking extended hiatus after the birth of her daughter and returning to the sport earlier this season.
• Rookie of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko picked up the award after beginning the season positioned outside the world's top 300 and rising to world number 18.
• Partnership of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend earned the title after securing their second Grand Slam title together.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after making five finals.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz took home three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was chosen as fans' favourite for a third consecutive time.
