An aircraft transporting the US defense secretary was forced to make an unplanned landing in the UK on Wednesday due to a fissure was found in the aircraft's cockpit window, according to an official statement which verified that all passengers were secure.
"The jet landed following established safety measures and all passengers, including Secretary Hegseth, is unharmed," an official representative commented in a social media post.
Hegseth was returning from a short visit to the city of Brussels at the time.
This occurrence isn't the first time that a American defense plane transporting a senior official has suffered equipment failures.
Earlier this year, a United States Air Force aircraft carrying the US Secretary of State to Munich was required to turn back to Washington after suffering a mechanical problem.
